Editorial Standards

Our Editorial Standards

Updated 2026-10-28

Disability benefits content affects real decisions in people's lives, so we hold it to a high bar.

Sourcing

  • Benefit rules, figures, deadlines, and processes are checked against official sources — primarily ssa.gov — at the time of publication
  • Dollar amounts and program rules change annually; we date our figures (e.g., "2026") so readers know what year they apply to
  • We do not publish statistics we cannot trace to a source

Review

Articles are reviewed for factual accuracy and completeness before publication, and re-checked when program rules change.

What we don't do

  • We never guarantee approval, outcomes, or benefit amounts
  • We never present ourselves as the Social Security Administration or any government agency
  • We don't give legal or medical advice — our guides are general information
